Remember all those worries I had about Apple Bunny fraternizing with the local wildlife? Turns out mixed breed babies would have been the least of our worries… After two weeks on the loose (with me in a cast and unable to catch her), Apple has returned home with a case of Myxomatosis contracted from a wild Myxi bunny who died in our garden last week. Yes, Apple and Thumper are vaccinated against this deadly disease, but it is still possible to contract it in a (hopefully!) milder form.
With antibiotics, pain relief and proper care, we have every hope she will recover…
Meanwhile, I am clucking and fretting, and sweeping up bunny pellets off my kitchen floor.
