Away hours among the stacks,
As dust motes dance through shafts
Of sunshine. She is smiling
At him from behind the cards she is filing,
But she know the ugly facts:
Obsession lays its trap,
But – however beguiling –
Is there hope for a girl in Coke-bottle glasses?
She thinks not.
Still, she passes
Hours in girlish fantasies –
A universe of unspoken thought
Behind magnified lashes.

Hahaha! This was inspired by my husband’s claim that I should have been a librarian…I think he would have loved part 2! 🙂 xx

His mother doesn’t own a book. Not a single book… if he has become bookish, I like to believe it is because he is trying to impress my inner librarian.

Well, if he does own a single book…at least he’s trying!!

Yet another great poem! It was written in such a descriptive way that I could imagine her there, spying from the stacks at the object of her desire!
Nicely done! Maybe a Part 2?? I hope she gets the guy in the end!

Short of contact lenses and a complete makeover, I fear our librarian is doomed… lol!

Hahaha! Well, when I was a girl in coke bottle glasses, believe me, there was little sexy about them! The day I got contacts? BOOM! 😀 (but I think there are glasses loving guys out there for sure!!!!)

I can see you and hubby in this scene. Only he’s singing Doreen the Librarian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7N9C2JS9mWc

Gahaha! IHow did I miss that one? Great stuff… but HH isn’t much of a singer, really.

I am sure he can fake it well.

An excellent contribution to the rehab, and, as a glasses wearing guy, see no problem in anyone wearing glasses ;-)!

Well growing up with fly eyes from +8 lenses, they were the bane of my existence. The day I got contacts = best day of my life!! ☺ glad you liked my little poem… it was a challenge!

You rose to the challenge well – and I’m too cowardly to even try contacts!!
